Successful new businesses in Videoton’s renewable energy markets

stsOne of Videoton’s youngest member companies STS Group Zrt headquartered in Győr has won more successful businesses in the last one-two months.
One of these was, for example, the connection of the biogas power station in Ikrény to the network. This included the supply, settlement and installation of a 4-field compact electric transformer station as well as getting the approvals from the power supply company to put it under voltage.
There are 2 pieces of 20kV transformers in the compact station; out of them the one with 630 KVA transforms the electricity made by the gas-engine to the network, the one with 250 KVA supplies energy to the cattle farm.
The station also contains a Tallus control technics system which allows remote control to the power supply company, and a gauge measuring the electricity supply of the power station and the site.
Recently, following the implementation, both the transformer station and the gas-engine was put under voltage, and trial runs were started.
STS Group Zrt also won the installation of a solar system at a public tender called by the Government of Bóly. The Videoton subsidiary located in Győr is to implement a solar system on the roof of the Regional Central Workshop in Bóly. The job includes the installation, the connection to the network as well as the management of all the necessary approval processes. The peak capacity of the system is 34.2 kWp, and it is built up of 180 pieces of mono-crystal solar panels of maximum 190 Wp capacity each. The panels are to be placed on the roof in 3 lines, 60 pieces in each line. The DC electricity generated by the solar panels is converted to the necessary AC voltage levels by 3 pieces of inverters.
The end of implementation is expected by the second half of 2011.
STS Group Zrt has belonged to the Videoton company group since June 2010. The subsidiary headquartered in Győr is involved in the planning, installation and implementation of wind-, biogas- and biomass- power stations.

Videoton acquired a new company

ventifiltVideoton group purchased 94% ownership in Ventifilt Zrt mechanical engineering company located in Hajdúnánás.  Thus Videoton’s wide range of activities was extended by industrial air technics as well as design, production and installation of equipment reducing environment contamination.  For Ventifilt the integration in the Videoton group means not only a stable financial background but also further business potential through the utilisation of synergies within the company group.
Since its establishment Ventifilt has been involved in the machine industry business segment, it supplies complex solutions to the domestic industrial air technology.
Within machine production the company deals with industrial air technics and related to the cleanness of air the design, production and on-site installation of equipment reducing environment contamination; supplementary noise and vibration isolation solutions meeting the environmental regulation;  on site air technical measurement and advisory; production of single welded metal constructions and equipment.
The company having almost 1 billion HUF income last year is a market leader in Hungary in this business segment.
One of the main strengths of Ventifilt,  having great experience in the export market, is that the company is able to make the design and production of single and small series products not only quicker and with shorter lead-times than the market average but also with  high level flexibility.
The investment fits in Videoton’s strategy – to acquire exportable, small and medium size Hungarian companies at high technical level – well.
Videoton is interested in making further steps in this industrial segment, especially in case the first experiences with Ventifilt will be positive.
Videoton’s long-term goal is to cover such wide range of technologies, services and technical solutions which makes it possible for the company group to be present in its target markets as a prime contractor offering complex solutions.

Videoton supplies smart building automation for Hager Group

VEAS HagerVideoton Electronic Assembly Services Kft. (VEAS), the Videoton subsidiary involved mainly in production of industrial and automation electronics agreed with the French company Hager on the manufacturing of a full range of electronics products. Videoton, considered to be the most significant local EMS company in the Central Eastern European region, provides a turn-key solution for Hager.
The co-operation between the two companies started in 2008, since that the production of several products has been introduced to the Hungarian factory of VEAS.
Parallel to this, the two companies are successfully working together in the production of further new product families beyond this transfer project.
Following the accomplishment of the transfer VEAS is going to supply the electronic sub-assemblies used in the smart building automation to Hager Group.
This business fits well into the long term strategy of the Videoton company because VEAS intends to strengthen its services and market positions further in the field of manufacturing small volume, high diversity, complex products of high importance.

Electric small car from Hungarian engineers

micron autoThe electronic small car called Micron designed by Hungarian engineers including employees of STS Technology Kft located in Győr - belonging to the Videoton group - was presented in the Auto Salon, Geneva.
The vehicle was designed and manufactured by more than 30 Hungarian enterprises - including the Videoton subsidiary - in barely more than 5 months, based on the assignment of a French company.
This was not the first time when these companies worked together: they made the first fuel cell car in Hungary, called HY-GO, also together.
The prototype of the Micron town small car was put together in the site of STS Technology in the Győri Industrial Park, where also the first test drives took place. The electric small car is hardly larger than a motor-cycle. The Micron is such a simple and economical town vehicle, which gives an honest and practical reply to the environmental problems of the towns with heavy traffic.  
According to the plans of the French company the town small car will be available also in the market from June 2012.

1.3 billion HUF investment in the field of electronic manufacturing in Videoton

fuji nxt 01Videoton started the modernisation of the electronics machine park at the end of 2010 and spent more than 1.3 billion HUF on the improvement. Part of the investment was financed by the circa 200 million HUF achieved via EU and Hungarian tenders.
Beside three complete Fuji NXT insertion lines the company purchased wave soldering machines and automatic optical test equipment.  A new soldering paste dispenser machine, a milling machine for cutting the PCBs,  board cleaning and de-ionising machines are also part of the investment targeting technology improvement and capacity extension. For the sake of a more effective traceability of the inserted parts the company started to introduce a full traceability system also in case of industrial and public utility electronics; end of process is expected by the end of year 2011.  Beyond system design and improvement the investment includes laser engraving machines and 2D matrix code labelling stations as well. This makes the application of the current production management system more up-to-date.
These considerable investments and the complex company technology improvements were mainly motivated by the increased customer orders and the higher technology and quality demands.  Now Videoton is able to meet these requirements better than ever.

Videoton gained a foothold also in the supply market of semi-conductor producing machines and medical equipment

vt mechatronicsRecently Videoton Holding acquired direct majority ownership in STS Technology Kft headquartered in Győr. In the future Videoton will manage the company as an integrant part of its contract manufacturing portfolio.
STS Technology signed an important agreement to deliver equipment and modules to the European and Asian factories of one of the leading suppliers of assembly equipment for the semiconductor industries. The other important target market of STS Technology is the production of medical equipment. The first successful co-operation has already started in the production of subassemblies to CT and PET equipment with the quickly developing company Mediso located in Budapest. The planned income of STS Technology for year 2011 exceeds 10 million EUR.
The most important capability of STS Technology is: the single and small series production of high complexity (thousands of components and sub-assemblies) machines and mechatronical equipment using in-house produced precision mechanical parts. The company knows its way very well around the world market of the parts applied, its competitiveness is increased by the local and Eastern European supplier base.
The integration of the STS Technology fits perfectly into Videoton’s strategy: in line with the market demands and with the nature of the region it strengthens Videoton’s position in the field of single and small series equipment production. Several innovative companies develop and have precise mechatronics based equipment produced in Europe. As of today it mainly takes place in Western Europe while the South East Asian production many times does not mean a real alternative due to the distance, consequently Videoton, as a contract manufacturer, sees large extension potential in this field from the printing machines to the laboratory equipment.
Videoton’s vertical integration (production of plastic parts, metal parts, enclosures, electronics control units, etc.) ensures an advantage in the competition compared to the companies making only assembly.

Videoton water-vapour analyser on airplanes

caribic projectHilase Kft belonging to the interest sphere of Videoton together with Videoton’s central R&D department developed a water-vapour analyser which measures the water content of the air. It is very important because the condensation trail drawn by the airplanes and its environmental consequences raise significant concerns. So the water-vapour analyser is going to have prominent role in the operation of the airplanes in the future.  Several world-wide companies test the analyser in the airplanes even today related to the so-called CARIBIC project* (Civil Aircraft for the Regular Investigation of the atmosphere Based on an Instrument Container). The analyser applied in the CARIBIC project for years was developed further by Hilase Kft. and Videoton’s central engineering department last year. In the beginning of 2011 the team received professional recognition from the group of scientists leading this international project.
The water vapour content data collected by the analyser can be used not only for the investigation of the condensation trail but also for meteorological applications. In case of having a large number of real time water-vapour data, the preciseness of the weather prognosis can be improved significantly, which is of vital importance among several other users to the air-carriers too. The developments targeting the size and weight reduction of the analyser to the usage in the air are in process.

caribic vizgozmero gepThe goal of the Hilase Kft. and Videoton’s central engineering team is to convince those international authorities about the suitability of the analyser who in case of their later environmental protection actions may motivate the airplane producers and/or airways to install the Videoton-Hilase analyser in the board of their airplanes.    
The R&D department of the Videoton Holding Zrt started its development activity in 1997. In the beginning they designed and produced automatic and manual jigs, equipment to special production technologies. Then, following the accumulation of know-how and increasing the number of employees gradually, they started to develop functional testers. First they supplied only the factories of the Videoton company group, then they step by step opened to outside markets too. As of today beside designing individual equipment Videoton’s central engineering is dealing also with tender and various product development tasks related to basic investigations. Videoton offers its design and engineering services in several different fields from automotive industry, via household applications, industrial automation and photo-acoustics to medical gauge development.
